The last decade has seen the number of hospitalisations for anorexia increase dramatically by 80%. Although the family was once traditionally seen as the cause of the problem, new scientific research suggests that genetics play a far more important role in the development of the disorder. Family involvement, if anything, significantly increases the chances of a successful recovery.
