Figures from Nan Sloane, director of the Centre for Women and Democracy, have shown that representation of women in politics and journalism appears to be stagnant at 22%. It is widely known that women are consistently underrepresented in nearly all aspects of public life. We'll be live-blogging as the panellists investigate the reasons behind the continued existence and apparent invincibility of the glass ceiling.
The speakers are: Professor Shirin Rai (political scientist, Professor of Politics and International Studies and Director of the Gendered Ceremony and Ritual in Parliament Programme), Bidisha (writer, critic, broadcaster) Ellie Mae O'Hagan (writer and co-editor of New Left Project) and Gabrielle Shine (European Students For Liberty, contributor at spiked).
The blog will be live from 6pm.
