This saturday brings forth the Warwick Higher Education Summit, the first of its kind. Since the Browne Review, there have been many changes to universities in Britain, not least the tripling of fees - and such a summit is desperately needed. This has also been made clear by the speakers attending the event, all wanting to participate in what looks to be a fantastic event. There are going to be five main panel discussions, Are the arts and humanities relevant to society?, Is the public value of universities still important?, What role do students have in the university? Are they consumers?, To what extent must the university act as a public investment in the private sector?, The case for a public university.
